A Message From
Mrs. Thompson, Principal
Welcome! Our faculty strives to provide an atmosphere where children are highly motivated to come to school and learn. Every student is provided with a variety of learning experiences to meet all of their needs. Our goal is to match teaching styles to individual student learning styles.
Believing in an open-door policy, I am always available to listen to parents and students. I share with my staff a feeling of academic excitement, and I’d like to extend to you our trust and dedication to your child’s education at Kensington International School.
Margaret D. Thompson

Kensington International School builds a foundation for the understanding of the global community through the teaching philosophy of the Responsive Classroom and through the Programme of Inquiry. Kensington’s mission is to foster appreciation for cultural diversity and social acceptance. Our environment develops self-esteem, respect, and the power of learning for children and staff. Teachers and children are encouraged to pursue learning’s two most important components: curiosity and exploration.

The school is designated as an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB) school and follows a program that “focuses on achievement as well as the social, physical, and cultural growth.”
The components of both programs mesh with the district curriculum and Common Core standards.

PYP schools use six organizing themes to guide the learning process. Through structured inquiry and key questions teachers help children acquire and apply knowledge.
- Who We Are
- Where We Are In Time and Place
- Sharing the Planet
- How We Organize Ourselves
- How the World Works
- How We Express Ourselves
